Knowledge for action on equity in health in Uganda

HEPS Uganda – Coalition for Health Promotion and Social Development organised this meeting which was held in Kamapala in March.
The meeting aimed to assess the progress of equity in health in Uganda. It reviewed gaps and needs in the Ugandan health sector, to feed into and draw from experience in East and Southern Africa.
FHS presented two sessions at the conference.
1. Changes in Utilisation of Health Services among Poor and Rural Residents in Uganda (Elizabeth Ekirapa)
2. Access to and Utilisation of Health Services for the Poor and Vulnerable in Uganda: A systematic Review of Available evidence (Susanne Kiwanuka)
FHS were involved in a number of activities at the Forum. This included a poster presentation and a stand.

Nigeria capacity building workshop March
A 3 day workshop was organised by FHS Nigeria on Quantitative Research Methods. The aim was to strengthen the capacity of the FHS Nigeria researchers and the University of Ibadan on quantitative research methods for postgraduate students and faculty members. 45 participants attended the workshop. One of the participants described it as "'enriching and eye opening".
