Capacity Building Workshop on conducting household surveys held in Beijing
From June 1 - June 6 2008 the Future Health Systems China team organized a capacity building workshop on household surveys with assistance from John Hopkins and Institute of Development Studies experts. 24 China Health Economics Institute (CHEI) researchers and student interns and 8 local NCMS managers attended the workshop. Workshop sessions included lectures from international experts on basic theories of household survey and hands-on group exercises. At the end of workshop, presentations were made by small groups on their research designs including research questions, hypothesis, data collection and analysis. CHEI researchers have proposed that we have more systematic, comprehensive lectures on advanced and practical research methodologies and more case analysis in future workshops. Local NCMS managers would prefer to have more lectures or activities related to the real issues they encounter in daily NCMS management, such as NCMS data management and monitoring of listed hospitals.
