Future Health Systems presentations at the Geneva Health Forum
Prof Adnan A. Hyder of Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health will be speaking in a session entitled Research to support the development of equitable health systems. The session will take place on Monday 26 May, 16.00-17.30.
More research is needed at country and global level to design, develop and manage equitable health systems. In this session three speakers representing the development community, researchers and users of health services will present their experience and viewpoint to make a case for more research evidence to develop equitable health systems.
Professor Hyder's presentation is entitled Contextual determinants of policy and resources for health systems.
It will explore the complex interface between research and policymaking for equitable health systems and the challenge of using research to influence the policy process.
He argues that research approaches must :
1. Recognise policies governing equitable health systems as complex processes;
2. Engage key stakeholders in the research process: decision-makers, providers, scientists, and communities; and
3. Ensure accountability is part of the research process.
Potential empirical approaches should integrate these perspectives to enhance the value of such innovative evidence.
