Future Health Systems is a research consortium working to improve access, affordability and quality of health services for the poor. We are a partnership of leading research institutes from across the globe working in a variety of contexts: in low-income countries (Bangladesh, Uganda), middle-income countries (China, India) and fragile states (Afghanistan) to build resilient health systems for the future. After a successful first five-year phase from 2006-2011 (see our success stories), we are entering a new six-year phase of research, funded mainly by UK aid.

Future Health Systems at the Geneva Health Forum

Future Health Systems

Future Health System team members are attending and participating in the upcoming Geneva Health Forum.

The Forum brings together international, national and local organizations; government agencies; the private sector; hospitals; universities; civil society; and most importantly those who need care. It provides an interactive and dynamic platform for critical reflexion on the complexity of global access to health.

This year's Forum places special emphasis on the strengthening and integration of health systems and the importance of the global health workforce. This year, 2008, the 30th anniversary of the Alma Ata Declaration, offers a special occasion to revisit the primary health care model.

To find out more about our activities at the conference please check our pages on the presentations we will be giving and the launch of the Special Issue of Social Science and Medicine.
