Path dependency and systems thinking in analysing health systems development in the aftermath of conflict

  • Room 1.61-1.62, CTICC 1 Lower Long St Cape Town, WC, 8000 South Africa

This session aims to evaluate the usefulness of systems thinking in understanding health system development in the aftermath of conflict. The concept of path dependency has been at the forefront of the thinking of the ReBuild programme which has built research on the premise that policies implemented in the immediate post-conflict period set the direction of health systems for the following decades. The session will consist of one paper, three discussions of the paper and a ‘fishbowl’.

Moderator:

  • Freddie Ssengooba, Associate Professor, Makerere University School of Public Health, Uganda
